Caciula in the Italy

VIVA ITALY!

Once, in the cold evening in February, Caciula sat at the table, drank the red wine and ate placintas. The idea came to its mind to visit Italy on holidays.

The route was planned during several days.

It was decided to move from north to south, and then toward the capital of Italy

Preparation for a trip.

avia1On 19th of February, it was bought the ticket for the flight Chisinau-Venice (89 EUR) for 7th May, 2015. If the ticket was bought 2 days earlier, it would cost 50 EUR. The return ticket was bought for the flight Rome-Chisinau on19th May (50 EUR). It was possible to buy a ticket from the airline WIZZAIR, but it was bought from national company AIR Moldova because of annual discounts.

When buying air ticket with lower price it is important to pay attention to quantity of the baggage. For example, the ticket Air Moldova with special price in economy class permits only cabin baggage with maximum dimensions 115 cm (50x40x25 cm) and maximum weight 8 kg. In Chisinau airport it was not paid close attention to sizes and weight of baggage, but in Rome airport Caciula had to put out excessive kilograms.

trenCaciula needed to move from city to city in Italy. After learning about possibilities of movements in Italy, it was taken a decision to buy electronic train tickets in advance. The network of railways trenitalia is very developed in the whole Italy. All trains are comfortable, clean and fast! Tickets can be bought at train stations in special machines or in cashboxes. Nowhere were noticed queues, although many people travel by train. Every ticket in economy class cost 9 EUR in any direction. The total price for ticket Venice-Bologna-Florence-Naples-Rome was 36 EUR.

It is very easy to use electronic tickets. It’s enough to have a printed copy of electronic ticket that was received by email or to have this file on electronic device that is scanned with special device by controller in the train. In order to buy tickets online it is needed to be registered and to have ID code of Italian passport. And Google helped Caciula here: there is one special web site that generates individual code for everybody based on name, surname and date of birthday.

After arranging of transportation in Italy Caciula began to think about accommodation.

Caciula asked about 90 participants of the project couchsurfing.com for a free accommodation. All of them refused. Caciula had to look for accessible rooms in hostels and camping for a place to sleep.

For this purpose Caciula used following web sites:

  • www.airbnb.ru – apartments, rooms and even kitchens, it is cheaper when you travel both;
  • www.booking.com – it is one of the most promoted web sites for booking hotels of all classes in all corners of the planet;
  • www.tripadvisor.com – you always remember this web site when you see “owl’s eyes” on the cafeteria’s door in unknown city – it’s the logo of this site;
  • www.hostelworld.com – it is convenient site for searching not only hostels, but also more expensive types of housing;
  • www.hostelsclub.com – it has a very easy in use map with hostels placement;
  • www.europeanhostels.com – приятный бирюзовый сайт поиска жилья
  • www.hostelbookers.com – it has a footprint and it promises free booking;
  • www.hostels.com – it is detailed site for searching affordable housing

After a long searching and using possibility to book in desired day, Caciula chose following:

museumItaly is the country of museums. Caciula had not right not to visit at least several museums.

There are often queues from tourists at the entrance to some of museums. That is why Caciula decided to buy online tickets to two museums. The quantity of museums was only two because of limited budget. Ideally, you should visit at least 20-25 museums, exhibitions and galleries in these 5 cities.




vatican-museum-2Tickets to museum of Vatican can be bought using the site  www.vatican.va without intermediaries. Caciula bought this ticket for 20 Euro (4 Euro included in price was for early booking). The same ticket you can buy in the museum for 16 Euro, but you have to stay in queues. This is the price for excursion “Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel”, but it is possible to choose other variants of visiting Vatican.

Single tourists can buy additionally two more variants: Vatican Gardens and Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. The price for every variant is 20 Euro. For tourists in groups there is one more variant Necropolis Via Triumphalis. The price for it is 24-29 Euro.

Uffizi3Tickets to the gallery Iffizi can be bought here: www.florence-museum.com. The price with early booking is 20, 25 Euro, but staying in long queues you can buy the ticket for 16 Euro. The price doesn’t include guide and excursion.
